As we close out 2025, I've been reflecting on the organizations I've worked with this year.
They all started podcasting with similar goals in mind: better member engagement and staying top-of-mind.
And yes, those things happened. But what surprised me—and what surprised them—were the benefits nobody planned for. The ones that showed up as the work unfolded.
The Podcast Became a Rallying Point
Internal teams rallied around the podcast in ways they didn't around other initiatives. There's something about collaborating and creating the storytelling piece together, that builds alignment. It became a shared project that energized people.
Knowledge Stopped Living in Silos
Institutional knowledge got preserved. Organizations are sitting on years of expertise and stories. A podcast becomes a way to capture that knowledge and create an archive of your organization's thinking, stories, and insights that members—and future teams—can access anytime.
Culture Shows Up Whether You Plan for It or Not
Culture signaling was another unexpected win. Organizations don't think about podcasts as recruitment tools, but they can be. When job candidates research you and find thoughtful, consistent content where leadership is transparent and invested, it says something about who you are.
Members Heard Themselves in the Story
And finally, member pride. When you feature member stories or bring member voices into your content, other members hear it and feel connected. They see themselves reflected. The content becomes something they're proud to be associated with, not just something they receive.
The Real Impact Shows Up Later
So as you think about 2026, if podcasting is part of your member engagement strategy, consider the ripple effects.
Not just who you'll reach, but what else might shift: how your team works together, how knowledge gets preserved, how your culture shows up, how members feel about belonging.
Because sometimes the outcomes you don't plan for are the ones that change everything.
I work with purpose-driven organizations to design podcasts and media strategies that create real connection — not just output.
If this piece sparked ideas or questions, I’d be glad to talk through what might be possible for your team.
